Looking for something beyond South Bay real estate? Check out more information about me to see how I can help you wherever you call home.
Most newcomers to the beach find our neighborhood names to be mysterious. Allow me to describe the various neighborhoods, and you will be navigating the area like a native in no time.
Manhattan Beach The city is divided in half east and west by Sepulveda Blvd. West of Sepulveda is the Tree Section,, an area characterized by, what else? Trees, of course. The streets are named Oak, Elm, Pine, Walnut, Palm and Laurel in addition to the numbered streets. Most lots are 40' wide and usually there are no curbs or sidewalks which adds to the rural and natural feel of the area. The Tree Section extends from Rosecrans south to Manhattan Beach Blvd and west to within 4 or 5 blocks of the ocean.
Redondo Beach, a Tale of Two Cities Redondo Beach is the largest of the Beach Cities, and is comprised of two areas. North Redondo is inland, bordering Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach on their east sides. South Redondo lies south of Hermosa Beach along the coast. There are a number of neighborhoods in North Redondo Beach, each with their own character.
Hermosa Beach The city is also bisected by Pacific Coast Highway (yes it is Sepulveda renamed as you enter the city.) On the west side of the city is the Hermosa Valley which includes the hillside rising from Ardmore/Valley Drive east, up the hill to Pacific Coast Highway. This area has properties of various sizes, some with amazing coastal views. Examples of streets with larger lots and estate sized homes (think prices of $8 or $10 million) are Tennyson and Amby Avenue which have amazing breathtaking views of the Santa Monica Bay. South of Gould Avenue are homes with equally magnificent views on smaller lots on streets like 24th Street, 24th Place and adjacent streets. |
